Face-to-Face - Colorado Thinkfinity Awareness Session
Time Requirement: 90 minutes
Audience: This session is appropriate for all audience types, including but not limited to educators, parents, administrators, and afterschool program staff.

Session Description: This session will provide a basic overview of Verizon Thinkfinity and its Content Partners, the educational resources available, and the profession development opportunities available to Colorado Teachers.
Location: may be delivered as a hands-on session or presentation style at location of choice

Through our online courses, face-to-face trainings, and webinars on specific areas of interest we are preparing Colorado teachers to easily incorporate the rich resources found at thinkfinity.org , for maximum impact on student learning. We provide teachers with the tools and materials necessary to locate and use online resources effectively.
Verizon Foundation and its State Partner, Colorado Department of Education, offer every teacher in Colorado this FREE online course to support each of you in using Verizon Thinkfinity resources in your classroom with your students to enhance student learning.
Course 1 - Thinkfinity Online for Colorado Teachers
Time Requirement: 3 weeks / approximately 30 clock hours
Audience: This session is intended for every Colorado Educator who is interested in locating and integrating Verizon Thinkfinity resources
Pre-requisites: none
Course Description: Thinkfinity Online for Colorado Teachers is a three-week, asynchronous, Internet-based course. It will present an overview of Verizon's website,Thinkfinity.org, and provide instruction on locating Verizon Thinkfinity’s online educational resources and integrating them effectively into instructional activities to support student learning. Educators will learn how to create an Integration Plan and develop strategies for using technology in their own instructional settings.
Educators will be encouraged to collaborate with other professionals to discuss various strategies for implementing Verizon Thinkfinity resources into their classrooms/schools/districts. After completion of this online course, educators will have developed their own original Integration Plan and be empowered to use Verizon Thinkfinity resources in their classroom to enhance student learning.
Location: Online - delivered via CDE Blackboard

Upon successful completion of the course, educators receive 30 CDE hours (FREE) or 2 graduate credits from Adams State College ($55/credit, your cost).

This free 45-minute live session is designed to introduce busy school administrators to the free resources for teachers and students, and professional development opportunities for all educators, that are available through Verizon Thinkfinity. Course 2 - Online Thinkfinity Train-the Trainer (offered February, May, July, October 2010; however, roster completed the month before)
Time Requirement: 6 weeks / approximately 30 clock hours
Learning Environment: Online Facilitated Course – delivered via Blackboard
Audience: This session is intended for educators who are interested in training others to locate and integrate Thinkfinity resources, but who have little or no experience with the Thinkfinity resources themselves. Due to the fast-paced nature of this session, educators are encouraged to have a high comfort level with using the Internet. Specific audiences may include technology integration specialists, staff developers, teacher leaders, and pre-service faculty and students.
Pre-requisites: Thinkfinity Online for Colorado Teachers and approval by State Administrator
Session Description: This comprehensive online training session guides educators, who have little to no prior experience with Thinkfinity through acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to become a Thinkfinity Field Trainer. This includes the following components: Thinkfinity’s content and resources, navigation and searching strategies, integration to enhance student learning, and tools and resources available for Thinkfinity trainers, best practice training strategies, and development of a customized training plan.
Objectives: After completing this hands-on session educators will be able to:
o Provide an overview of the Thinkfinity program, including professional development and rollout, to education colleagues
o Locate free educational resources including interactive student tools, high quality lessons, and panel-reviewed Web sites
o Differentiate between types of online resources available through Thinkfinity and recognize their flexibility for use to support student learning, regardless of individual technical skills and technology availability
o Think critically about strategies for using various Thinkfinity resources to increase student learning
o Create a customized integration plan to engage learners and maximize student achievement, using Thinkfinity’s Integration Framework
